I believe people come into our lives for a reason.

They stay for a short time, or a long time, present to help us reach the next level of our potential.

For as long as I can remember, I have been some kind of writer. Since 2005, I have written for non-profits, small and medium-sized business, educational institutions and three levels of government. When not creating content for clients, I write plays and essays (and bad poetry). In 2017, Apricot Stones, played at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. In 2022, Dante’s Door, received Honourable Mention from the Playwrights Guild of Alberta, and was produced for stage at the Brave New Playwrights Festival on Granville Island in Vancouver, B.C. It was recently commissioned for a short film. I have also published for various magazines and newspapers, including Avenue, Confluence, Alberta Venture & The Edmonton Journal.

Putting pen to paper is an act of joy on some days, and one of punishment on others. Why I write? Well…catharsis, for one. And, of course, to explore, to record, to communicate, to understand what I’m doing here, on Earth. Learning about people, helping them to mine their lives, find their voice and write their own stories fills my bucket.

I spent seven years in the book publishing and marketing world before starting Writing on the Wall in 2011. I am currently working on my MFA Creative Writing at University of British Columbia
